Together with this Bearista and the students of DASEIN Academy of Art, take a stroll through Kuala Lumpur's up and coming coffee culture, where the traditional 'Nanyang Coffee' experience meets the modern flair.

From traditional kopitiams to cozy cafes like Starbucks, each spot fosters connections and memories made over a warm cup of coffee.

About the artists

Tan Zhe Qing

Tan Zhe Qing is an art student soon to graduate from DASEIN Academy of Art with a degree in graphic design. She has developed a deep passion for exploring typography and its nuances throughout her academic journey.

She loves using simple elements such as shapes, colors, and minimalist art styles in her designs, but she also enjoys pushing her creative boundaries by experimenting with various artistic approaches.

One notable project from 2023, titled “Where Has Humanity Gone?”, saw Tan Zhe Qing exploring a less familiar art style and playing with typography. This editorial design won her two Silver awards in Typography and Art Direction at the Students Kancil 2023. Additionally, her typography poster “Locusts” was recognized as a finalist in the Rising Award International Youth Design Competition in 2022 and featured in the Intercontinental Bienal Columbia 2023.

Looking ahead to graduation, Tan Zhe Qing is eager to enter the professional realm to further refine her skills, challenge herself creatively, and explore new opportunities in the field of graphic design.

Koi Jia Ru

Koi Jia Ru is final-year student, studying Graphic Design at DASEIN Academy of Art. Since young, she has been captivated by packaging and posters design seen in malls. Her dream is to one day see her own designs showcased in similar spaces.

While still developing her personal style, Koi Jia Ru enjoys integrating Chinese elements and vibrant colors into her work. Her packaging design was recently featured on 'Packaging of the World' website, and she participated in the Student Kancil Awards in 2023.

Upon graduation, Koi Jia Ru aims to join a design agency to gain diverse experience across different design disciplines and further her professional growth.

Lim Yu Jie

Lim Yu Jie is a second-year Graphic Design student at DASEIN Academy of Art. He chose this field to explore new paths and experiment with various design skills, materials, and styles.

He has a preference for unconventional, bold, and rebellious designs that deviate from ordinary harmony and minimalism. He enjoys learning from collages and sketchy designs, appreciating how they maintain balance and spaciousness despite their complexity.

Though relatively new to the design field, Lim Yu Jie had his poster selected for the Intercontinental Bienal Columbia in 2023. This achievement has motivated him to seek more opportunities in exhibitions and competitions to further improve his skills.

Yu Jie also enjoys experimenting with materials and designs for clothing and jewelry, with hopes of eventually establishing his own brand.
